Wow the Watchtower is in a money fix so bad that they have unloaded all their valuable property in Brooklyn NY and moved to live in the boonies on top of a leaking chemical dump full of PCB.

Does Following The Christian Precepts Of Truthfulness Lead To Nihilism?

Cofty,
In(what) way do you think one leads to the other exactly?
I'm thinking that if one is a Christian and they take the bible seriously and they practice the parts about speaking and finding truth, then one would have to come to the conclusion that science disproves the bible claims that Yahwey created the earth 6,000+ years ago. Also since we are now in the instant information age and Christians are told to speak truth and seek truth this will eventually lead to a life which no longer believes that there is some universal meaning to life, instead one would have to find one's own personal meaning to life. Which is the type of nihilism I speaking of. No universal meaning just personal depending on what motivates you.

Nihilism is often associated with the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who provided a detailed diagnosis of nihilism as a widespread phenomenon of Western culture. Though the notion appears frequently throughout Nietzsche's work, he uses the term in a variety of ways, with different meanings and connotations. Karen Carr describes Nietzsche's characterization of nihilism "as a condition of tension, as a disproportion between what we want to value (or need) and how the world appears to operate."[24] When we find out that the world does not possess the objective value or meaning that we want it to have or have long since believed it to have, we find ourselves in a crisis.[25] Nietzsche asserts that with the decline of Christianity and the rise of physiological decadence,[clarification needed] nihilism is in fact characteristic of the modern age,[26] though he implies that the rise of nihilism is still incomplete and that it has yet to be overcome.[27] Though the problem of nihilism becomes especially explicit in Nietzsche's notebooks (published posthumously), it is mentioned repeatedly in his published works and is closely connected to many of the problems mentioned there.
Nietzsche characterized nihilism as emptying the world and especially human existence of meaning, purpose, comprehensible truth, or essential value. This observation stems in part from Nietzsche's perspectivism, or his notion that "knowledge" is always by someone of some thing: it is always bound by perspective, and it is never mere fact.[28] Rather, there are interpretations through which we understand the world and give it meaning. Interpreting is something we can not go without; in fact, it is something we need. One way of interpreting the world is through morality, as one of the fundamental ways that people make sense of the world, especially in regard to their own thoughts and actions. Nietzsche distinguishes a morality that is strong or healthy, meaning that the person in question is aware that he constructs it himself, from weak morality, where the interpretation is projected on to something external. Regardless of its strength, morality presents us with meaning, whether this is created or 'implanted,' which helps us get through life.[29]
Nietzsche discusses Christianity, one of the major topics in his work, at length in the context of the problem of nihilism in his notebooks, in a chapter entitled "European Nihilism".[30] Here he states that the Christian moral doctrine provides people with intrinsic value, belief in God (which justifies the evil in the world) and a basis for objective knowledge. In this sense, in constructing a world where objective knowledge is possible, Christianity is an antidote against a primal form of nihilism, against the despair of meaninglessness. However, it is exactly the element of truthfulness in Christian doctrine that is its undoing: in its drive towards truth, Christianity eventually finds itself to be a construct, which leads to its own dissolution. It is therefore that Nietzsche states that we have outgrown Christianity "not because we lived too far from it, rather because we lived too close".[31] As such, the self-dissolution of Christianity constitutes yet another form of nihilism. Because Christianity was an interpretation that posited itself as the interpretation, Nietzsche states that this dissolution leads beyond skepticism to a distrust of all meaning.[32][33]

Good job! Nice to see some well done picketing of the WT corporation. Maybe in the US this type of picketing might start up?

Why is there such a 'high turnover' within the Jehovahs Witnesses?
by UnshackleTheChains ini happened to come across a time article in 2008. it was basically talking about the high turnover in american faiths.
it mentioned the jdubs and highlighted the following point.. an even more extreme example of what might be called "masked churn" is the relatively tiny jehovah's witnesses, with a turnover rate of about two-thirds.
that means that two-thirds of the people who told pew they were raised jehovah's witnesses no longer are — yet the group attracts roughly the same number of converts.

I kind of blasted my way out of the cult shortly after my mother died, since she was in the cult mind control of the Watchtower corporation I held off from revealing my new revelations for about 2 months until after I attended her JW funeral, from then on I no longer held back. I was convinced as of 2/2001 that the WT was bogus and she died 4/2001 soon after that due to slips of the tongue and a bunch of letter I sent to individuals, I was gunned down by a couple of law enforcement agents from the WTBS goon squad( elders).
So basically I was catapulted out of the mind control cult and stripped of any communications with my relatives stuck inside to get them out. Any limited contact I have is in strict obedience drum into them from the cult.
Jp,
I say while it may show a lack of courage to confront these issues about loyalty to the cult, it has its reasons that are important to individual and there for lacks any kind of negative judgement from me as being a coward. I think the word coward has been use by government propaganda to preach the faithful drones onto the battle field to fight for their country what ever that is. So I tend to stay away from it as a motivator and make myself hold off any negative judgements about a person's reasons for remaining incognito there are too many issues for me to pass judgement.
I think your definition of the courage very biased and one sided perhaps due to your cherry picking definitions that suit you. I'm other sure other definitions about being courageous exist that are less one sided and not used to authoritatively to prove a point to its readers.
So I recommend you allow room for persons handling their predicament with a bit of:" Don't criticize and abuse till you walked a mile in my shoes" as the song goes.

I'm thinking with these vast reductions in printed material(3WT&3Awakes per year),, that they may have had some big upsets in the writing department, and they can't find anybody braindead enough to take their place and write this utter bull shit.
I mean judging from the utter bull shit that they have wrote in recent years, if some of these guys who write this shit all of a sudden had a falling out with the GB, it would be hard to finds someone who could be a Governing Body ass kisser and write a semi coherent couple of versus for Watchtower a publication. They would have to do some serious scraping of the bottom of the barrel to find some more writers.

Went to a sunday meeting Waterbury, Connecticut, yawnfest x100
by Brokeback Watchtower inwell went on a vacation cross country for 10 days to see relatives, and so decided to drop in on my old kingdom hall to get a look at some old friends i haven't seen in more the 27 years.. came in around 1:15 pm middle of the public talk wearing tight fitting jeans and an old sweat shirt, and sat down in front of person i served with as an elder.
the talks was so boring i can't remember a word of it, i can only recall that it was very disjointed with tremendous leaps in logic, so that my mind could not and would not follow the speaker.
watchtower study was a complete brain shrinking repeat of putting on the new personality or something, with the conductor fishing for baby food comments where none of the 3 or 4 young ones gave any comments only the hard core braindead were answering.

Hey Joe, I sent you a pm.
Thanks for filling me in on things. Send those elders from Paterson might have been part of the big reduction in work force at Bethel. You heard about the halt to all building projects except Warwick and one in England seems like they are in the nightmare stage of wishful thinking:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wishful_thinking
Christopher Booker described wishful thinking in terms of
"the fantasy cycle" ... a pattern that recurs in personal lives, in politics, in history – and in storytelling. When we embark on a course of action which is unconsciously driven by wishful thinking, all may seem to go well for a time, in what may be called the "dream stage". But because this make-believe can never be reconciled with reality, it leads to a "frustration stage" as things start to go wrong, prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy in being. As reality presses in, it leads to a "nightmare stage" as everything goes wrong, culminating in an "explosion into reality", when the fantasy finally falls apart.
